A storm? A car accident? Malfunctioning equipment? Even though
EnerStar makes every effort to provide dependable 24-hour service,
any of these things can cause a power outage on either your own
electrical system or on the cooperative lines. With your help,
we can restore power in the quickest manner
possible and make sure everyone is safe during an outage. If you
experience an outage, here are a few tips:
First
and foremost, always keep a safe distance from downed or damaged
power line. Assume every wire is energized. Call EnerStar
at 1-800-635-4145. Let our trained professionals
handle the situation.
Check
your fuses and circuit breakers to determine if the trouble is in
your own electrical system. If your meter is located on a pole, check the breakers below the meter
too. Then contact your neighbors to see
if they have electricity.
To
report the outage, call EnerStar at
1-800-635-4145 and please have your account number available. During widespread power outages and after business hours,
the cooperative's automated outage reporting system does an
excellent job of processing a high volume of telephone calls and
simultaneously collects data to analyze the situation. As
information is received,
the system can pinpoint the problem. These reports help
crews focus their efforts on the most efficient way to restore
power.
If
you have information on the specific cause of the problem or
the location of damage such as trees on the wires, please stay on
the line to speak to a member service representative.
During
outages, members become our extra eyes and ears. We appreciate your
patience as we do our best to safely and quickly restore your power. |
