Illinois Electric Council
The IEC was formed to develop educational programs to promote efficient and safe use of
electricity. It is comprised of representatives from Illinois electric cooperatives,
investor-owned utilities and the University of Illinois.

Safe Electricity is a public awareness program designed to compliment the existing
safety-education activities of electric utilities and educators. The organization was
founded by the Illinois Electric Council, the University of Illinois, and other
organizations dedicated to promoting electrical safety.
