Members of
EnerStar Electric Cooperative will soon receive their
official notice of the 71st annual meeting of
members to be held Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Crestwood
School in Paris. Within this notice are the candidate
profiles and Voting Ballot that members will need to elect
their representative on the co-op’s board of directors.
“As a
cooperative, EnerStar is owned by its members. The most
important action our members can take to participate in
their co-op is to elect their board members. These board
members set policies and govern the co-op,” says Angela
Griffin, EnerStar’s Manager of Member Services.
One member is
elected from each of the co-op’s nine representative
districts to form the co-op’s board of directors. These nine
districts are divided into three voting districts. Each
member elects representatives from the districts within
their voting district.
This year,
three representative districts, one from each voting
district, are up for election to three-year terms. Members
will receive a ballot for their voting district only.
“We urge all
members to carefully read the instructions provided with the
ballots. They can return ballots to the office by mail or
hand deliver them to the office by March 19, or bring them
to the annual meeting on March 20,” said Griffin.
Members are
encouraged to call EnerStar’s Member Services Department at
217-463-4145 or 1-800-635-4145 with any questions regarding
the annual meeting or voting procedures.
